In line with the broader policy of the United Nations, UNIDIR is committed to gender equality. This includes the full participation of women and girls in all matters related to peace, security and disarmament. UNIDIR seeks to incorporate a gender perspective into its work.
All UNIDIR personnel are expected to ensure they are familiar with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security. From the end of 2015, all of the Institute’s project proposal and reports submitted to funders include an explanation of how that work relates to implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325.
UNIDIR is a member of the Geneva Gender Champions initiative, intended to harness Geneva’s multilateral fora and enhance opportunities to develop and promote gender-equal leadership opportunities through practical actions.
The institutional coordinator and point-of-contact for the Geneva Gender Champions Leadership Network and for gender issues more broadly within UNIDIR is Ms Elena Finckh.
